Native American Genealogy and its Sources

Primary tabs

Program Type: Lecture, Workshop
Age: Adult

The U.S. Census counts approximately 1% of Americans as self-identified American Indians and Alaskan Natives. However, scholarly studies indicate that roughly 1 in 3 Americans possess indigenous Native American ancestry from somewhere within the American hemisphere, but securing corresponding documentation can be elusive and challenging. This presentation will focus on notable sources for Native American genealogical research, emphasizing resources from Marquette University. Led by Mark G. Thiel, Archivist, Marquette University.
