St. Joseph's Catholic Academy's Monica Valenti - who earned a degree in Italian Language and History in her native country of Italy - has taught the Italian language to people of all ages for nearly two decades now.
This specific course is designed for beginner students. It focuses on communication in everyday situations such as: proper greetings, expressing likes and dislikes, ordering in a restaurant, making a purchase in a store, expressing opinions, asking for information, reading authentic materials, and more.
In order to accomplish these goals, students will learn Italian grammar and vocabulary, dialogue etiquette, and sentence structure.
A very important part of the course is Italian culture. Students will learn about main art cities and artists, from the Assisi medieval frescoes, to Florentine Renaissance and modern architecture, music, geography and much more.
Students will acquire fluency in the language by a very active participation through role plays, speaking activities and usage of the language from the very first lesson. Listening activities will enhance keeping a conversation or getting information.
