Primary tabs

Program Type: Lecture
Age: Adult

Join us as we explore the world of the first black superstar, Miss Josephine Baker! Born into poverty in St. Louis in 1906, her dauntless ambition to entertain made her the toast of Paris by the age of 19. From there she became a movie and recording artist, a fighter for the French Resistance during WWII, mother to 12 adopted children, and a respected civil rights activist back in the USA. Come hear and see why Ernest Hemingway called Baker, “most sensational woman anyone ever saw.”
