Ages 14+ are invited to join the Kenosha Public Library on Zoom for an evening with renowned Young Adult author Nic Stone!
Nic will be presenting Get LIT: What is “literacy,” why do we need it, and how do we truly obtain it? Exploring the history of English literacy, and expanding on the simplified definition (“The ability to read and write.”) Nic explains how true literacy is about effective communication, and has the power to change an individual's life, while also creating a more equitable society.
To submit a question for the moderator to ask Nic Stone about her books, creative process, or life after this presentation, email your name, age (if a teen, or just say 'adult'), and question(s) to Heather Thompson at firstname.lastname@example.org. We cannot guarantee that your question will be asked.
Registrants will be emailed a link to the Zoom session the week of the event.
From Penguin Random House:
Nic Stone was born and raised in a suburb of Atlanta, GA, and the only thing she loves more than an adventure is a good story about one. After graduating from Spelman College, she worked extensively in teen mentoring and lived in Israel for a few years before returning to the US to write full-time. Growing up with a wide range of cultures, religions, and backgrounds, Stone strives to bring these diverse voices and stories to her work.
You can find her goofing off and/or fangirling over her adorable little family on most social media platforms as @getnicced, or on her website: www.nicstone.info.
Her titles include:
- Dear Martin
- Odd One Out
- Clean Getaway
- Dear Justyce
