Kids & Teens: Books Celebrating AAPI Heritage

April 27, 2021 at 4:44 PM by Tessa Fox-Pawlaczyk

April showers bring May flowers, and May brings Asian American & Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month! Much like their rich cultures, customs, and cuisine, the countries that make up Asia and the Pacific Islands are numerous and diverse.

According to the Nations Online Project, Asia is Earth’s largest continent in both area and population. It encompases nearly 50 countries and is commonly divided into six regions: Northern, Western, Central, Eastern, Southern, and Southeastern. According to Britanica, the Pacific Islands is the geographic region of the Pacific Ocean that comprises three ethnogeographic groupings — Melanesia, Micronesia, and Polynesia.

Join Kenosha Public Library in celebrating the AAPI  community's people, cultures, and contributions to the history, culture, and achievements of the United States, and the world. Below are some recommended titles that highlight Asian American & Pacific Islander stories and authors/illustrators.
