You are here
Get ready for the first-ever annual Teen Winter Photo Contest! We’re keeping it pretty simple this year: submit an original photo you believe represents winter in Kenosha and you’ll be entered for a chance to win a wintry prize. The contest runs from January 15-February 15, 2021.
The contest is open to teens ages 12-19. The photograph must be the work of the teen entering the contest and the photograph must not include images of people with identifying features (ex. the face of a person is not allowed in the photo, but a shot that shows the back of a person’s head where they can’t be identified is acceptable.) Make sure to have your submissions in by the end of the day on February 15th. Late entries will not be accepted. To submit, email your photo submission to firstname.lastname@example.org .
Each emailed submission MUST include:
- Your full name
- School Attending
- Phone number and/or email address (this is how we will contact you if you win)
- Photo submission attached in one of the following file types: .jpg, .png, or .tif.
What can I win?
This year’s prize for the Teen Winter Photo Contest is a Wintery Snack Pack, which includes a Starbucks gift card and more snackable winter treats. How many photos can I submit? You can submit up to two photo entries so choose carefully before sending them in.
Why am I not allowed to submit photos of a person’s face?
Great question! Much of this has to do with confirming whether the subject of the photo (for instance, the person whose face is in the photo) gave their permission to have their photo taken. It’s always good practice when taking a photo to ask the person if you can take their picture and if you have their consent to use it in the contest. Because we, as the photo judges, cannot be certain that all subjects gave their consent to having their photo taken, we’ve decided to request that all photo submissions do not have human subjects with identifiable features. If you have any questions about whether or not a photograph would be permissible, just ask us! We’ll be happy to let you know whether a photo does not meet the requirements.
Do I need fancy photography equipment to enter?
Nope! If you have a fancy camera, by all means, use it. But you can simply use your phone’s camera. Photos will be judged on things like originality, photo composition, interpretation of the theme, etc.
