COVID-19 EMERGENCY PAID SICK LEAVE POLICY
The Board of Trustees of the Kenosha Public Library adopts and makes public the following written policies.
Effective January 1, 2021, the Kenosha Public Library is voluntarily resuming a part of the expired federal FFCRA policy of providing up to 80 hours/10 work days (or a prorated number of hours for part-time employees based on the number of hours per week the employee is normally scheduled to work) of COVID-19 emergency paid sick leave for employees who are either quarantined due to a COVID-19 exposure as directed by a health department or medical provider or test positive for COVID-19 only. Employees will be required to provide written proof of either status from their medical provider or health department. Please note this leave may not be used to care for family members or for childcare. Affected employees should discuss work remote options, as applicable, as a possible accommodation with their supervisor in conjunction with their Division Head and the Head of Administrative Services.
In addition, the Kenosha Public Library will approve COVID-19 emergency paid sick leave retroactively for those employees who were absent from work due to an ordered COVID-19 quarantine or positive COVID-19 test between the dates of January 1, 2021-April 1, 2021 and used their own accrued leave time. To be eligible for retroactive COVID-19 paid administrative leave, employees must have reported his or her need for COVID-related absence to their supervisor and the Head of Administrative Services. Employees who used accrued leave for an approved COVID-19 related absence will be credited back the amount of accrued leave used up to 80 hours (or prorated for part-time employees). Similarly, employees who used leave without pay for an approved COVID-19 absence will be provided up to 80 hours (or prorated for part-time employees) of COVID-19 emergency paid sick leave.
COVID-19 paid administrative leave will be available to employees until such time that new federal COVID-19 leave legislation is signed into law or the pandemic has been declared over, whichever occurs first. Employees who utilize COVID-19 emergency paid sick leave prior to new legislation may be ineligible for additional leave time afforded by any new federal COVID-19 leave legislation (pending new leave eligibility requirements as may be set forth in the legislation).
Reservation of Rights - The Kenosha Public Library reserves the right to administer this policy and interpret, change, or rescind the policy in whole or in part, with or without notice or consideration. In addition, changes to applicable federal, state, or local laws or regulations may require the Kenosha Public Library to modify or supplement this policy without notice.
