The Kenosha Public Library Board of Trustees governs the operation of Kenosha Public Library. Board trustees are appointed by the Mayor of Kenosha and approved by the City Council.

KPL Board of Trustees carries out the Library's mission by authorizing the KPL business plan and operating policies, setting long range goals and objectives, hiring a competent Library Director, monitoring Library operations, and providing accountability for the Library to the public.

Kenosha Public Library Board of Trustees Goal

Acting under the authority of Chapter 43 of the Wisconsin Statutes, the KPL Board of Trustees carries out the Library's mission by authorizing the KPL business plan and operating policies, setting long range goals and objectives, hiring a competent Library Director, monitoring Library operations, and providing accountability for the Library to the public.

By-Laws of the KPL Board of Trustees

The Board of Trustees meets the second Wednesday of each month at 5:15 pm at various library locations. Meetings are open to the public.

Library Board Objectives

Participate in the formulation of and authorize KPL's mission and long range goals.
Participate in the formulation of and approve KPL operating policies.
Participate in the formulation of and approve the KPL annual business plan.
Adopt and monitor KPL's budget and fiscal management policies.
Evaluate the Director's performance and approve his employment agreement.
Monitor and assess the achievement of KPL goals and objectives.
Advocate the mission of the Library throughout the community
