• 7 days for audiovisual materials such as DVD's or videos.
  • Effective March 1, 2010, any feature DVD with 7 reservations or more and all HOT collection (non-reservable) DVDs will have a 3 day loan period.
• 14 days for magazines and items with reservations.

• By telephone, call Reference Services at (262) 564-6130 and the librarian will take your request.
• Using My Account.
• Or, in the Library using one of the express computer workstations to search the Katalog.
• Click on “My Account”. Enter your library card number, pin number/password, click “Sign In".
• Click on “New Search” from the left side of the screen. Enter your search – author, subject, title, etc.
• Select the item from the list.
• Click “Reserve Title” on the left hand side of the screen or create a Save List by checking the white box next to the item.
• Select your delivery location and confirm your reservation by clicking “Yes”. A confirmation will be sent by email.
• If we do not have your email, you will receive a telephone call when the item is available for you to pick up. Items are held for 4 days. The Library does not disclose the title(s) of your reservations because of confidentiality.

• You may request to authorize another person who has an active library card to pick up your reservation.
• Call the Circulation Division (262) 564-6101 to make this request or visit the checkout desk at any branch.

• If the Library does not own the material you are looking for, KPL will search other libraries to borrow the item. Please call the Reference Desk at (262) 564-6130 to make a request. You can also click here to learn more about Interlibrary Loan.

• Every KPL branch has an outside book return box.
• Items can be returned to the Bookmobile. Click here for a current Bookmobile schedule.
• If your item is overdue you may pay your fine the next time you are at the Library.

• Fines for Adult and Young Adult items are calculated at 25¢ per day with a max of $5.00.
• Fines for Children's Books & Materials are calculated at 10¢ per day with a max of $5.00.
• When your item is 10 days overdue you will receive either an email notice or a notice in the mail.
• KPL considers items 50 days overdue as a lost item and you will receive an invoice in the mail. The invoice includes the replacement cost, processing fee and fine.

• The library does not accept replacement copies of any library items. Please call the Circulation Department at (262) 564-6102 for information concerning the replacement cost of the item in question.

• Your library card is blocked once your fine reaches $5.00.
• A person with a blocked library card can not check out items or use the Internet computers at the Library.

• The Library will accept cash or check payments at any branch.
• Credit card payments are accepted online. Official Payments charges an additional fee of $4.95 per payment.

• Accounts with large fines/lost items 60 days overdue may be referred to the Unique Collection agency.
• Accounts are credit reported 120 days after being submitted.

• Your information will be removed one year from the date the account was paid in full.
