Do you like to read scary stories? Have you ever tried writing one yourself? This is your chance! Write a bone-chilling tale of 500 words or less, fill out an entry form, and bring your story to any KPL branch. Entries will be judged based on creativity, originality and adherence to contest guidelines. Contest begins Friday, October 1st and all entries must be received by 4:00pm on Sunday, October 31st. Winners will be announced on Monday, November 8th. Entry forms will be available at any KPL branch beginning October 1st. For grades 3-5.

Certified therapy teams with Kenosha’s Dogs of Endearment will provide Reading Education Assistance Dogs (R.E.A.D.) and will serve as reading companions for children who want to practice their reading skills. Children five and older are encouraged to participate in this one-on-one program. Call (262) 564-6150 to schedule a fifteen minute reading slot. Parents/guardians will need to sign a permission slip prior to their child's session.

These beginning classes are intended for people who have basic keyboard and mouse skills, but have never used the Internet.

This up close and personal presentation will highlight local author Mary Jo Scheibl's (writing as Casey Clifford) path to seeing her book published. She’ll discuss what motivates her, where she finds ideas, and how she brings them to life as well as how to navigate the circuitous road to publication and the need for promotion. Books will be available for purchase. For Adults.
